@mikesisak

This seems like an idea floated for the express purpose of spurring outrage so that another, less bad, yet-to-come idea seems palatable in comparison.

EXCLUSIVE: MLB is planning a radical change to their postseason perhaps by 2022, hoping to move from 5 to 7 teams in each league and -- get this -- have the teams with the best records pick their playoff opponents.

First round would be a best of 3 with the higher seed home for all games

Mets, Dbacks, Red Sox, Indians would have gotten in last year

Marwin Gonzalez becomes 1st #Astros position player from the 2017 team to apologize for the cheating scandal. Gonzalez, with the #Twins now, says it’s impossible to know if they would have won the World Series without stealing signs.

Alex Wood
@Awood45

The Royals just sold for $1 BILLION there is no $ disparity. There are rich teams and there are really rich teams. All are capable to sign and field great rosters yet choose not to. Cheap teams shouldn’t be rewarded with the playoffs if they don’t spend.

So part of that is a reflection of the quality of the Braves, Nats and Mets, right?
The NL really has no chumps at this point, with the Pirates and Giants probably the weakest two teams this year.

Phillies are going to have to bust their asses to win series, so, no, I don't think 76.5 wins is a crazy thought. These models are not assuming 2018 Aaron Nola. Should we? And even if he is, we get 100 starts from Arrieta/Eflin/Velasquez.

PECOTA really doesn't like Haze, Kingery, Jean and Didi's offense this year. It hates Ef too and has Nola regressing a bit, I think they're a bit too harsh with some of it but none of it is totally out of the question.

Won't change anything unless Mids stops being a tightwad.
